Baseball: Cameron Daugherty
Baseball coach Derek Boyd chose pitcher and shortstop Cameron Daugherty (11) as athlete of the issue.
Boyd chose Daugherty because he is a leading hitter on the team and has a pitching win with a record of 4-2 in the OCC.
Daugherty also has had the most success with two pitching saves. He acts as a leader of the team and always has a positive attitude towards his team. Daugherty (11) is happy to be chosen, but said he could not do it without his team.
“My team always has my back and encourages me and others to push ourselves to be better. When we lose, we lose together, and when we win, we win together as a team,” he said.
Aaron Saal says Daugherty is a great team leader and is a good example.
“Cameron is a team player. He supports everyone no matter what and never gives up when an inning or game is not going as planned. When we are stuck Cameron is always there to keep our heads up and stay positive,” Saal said.
Daugherty achieved first team OCC, first team Daily Record and second team all-district last season, and plans to reach these goals again this season.
