How does nuclear energy work?

The heat is created through fission, the separation of the atoms in uranium inside a nuclear reactor. Hard water is used to cool the water, creating steam. Uranium is an unstable chemical, and once an atom is split it releases neutrons, hitting other atoms and cause a chain reaction. Uranium comes in long, vertical tubes added to the reactor in bundles.
