Kiwanis puts new twist on board game
Kiwanis is an organization whose main goal is to improve children’s lives.
Their motto is “We Build,” which they have done through their work in many parks and events in Wooster.
They are raising money to rebuild Christmas Run Park as 24 years ago the park was built.
This has been more of a pressing issue, especially in light of the city needing to replace a water line directly under the playground.
The money raised is to help the city pay for the new playground.
To raise money for this project, they are putting a new spin on the classic board game Monopoly, calling it WoosterOpoly. Kiwanis members are selling them for $25 and the proceeds are going to help rebuild the playground at Christmas Run Park.
According to member Eric Braunscheildel, they started selling them in Novemeber of this year.
They created 750 games, and about 350 have been sold thus far.
In an article titled “The Game of Wooster” published by Wooster Weekly, former president of Kiwanis, Sandy Elliott said, “You get to learn more about our area businesses by having fun.”
