Fashion in the time of quarantine emphasizes comfort
Many people think that you should be dressing up for school to give maybe a good impression or to just, in general, look nice. Some people just enjoy getting up and wanting to put together a cute outfit. However, some people really do not care what they look like for school.
Sweatpants and a sweatshirt is a classic lazy outfit. It could be turned into a cute outfit, but that really defeats the purpose of it being a lazy outfit. Maybe jeans and a t-shirt would suffice, which is very simple, yet could be cute at the same time.
Everyone has their own style, which is why there are so many different options of clothing. Not everyone needs to be dressed up, especially as we are spending all of our time in quarantine right now. The standard outfit for most people right now is most likely sweatpants and a sweatshirt, which is perfectly fine, because it does not matter what we wear as long as we are comfortable.
However, there are less conventional style options during this quarantine. Without public gatherings where people can “dress to impress,” what used to be standard outings has now become the only opportunities to show style, with people dressing up for things such as trips to the grocery store or for class meetings on zoom.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are those who take comfort, in terms of their style, to the absolute maximum. Actor John Krasinski has started hosting a weekly web show called “Some Good News” and one of his running gags on the show is to present the news in a suit and tie, only to stand up at some point and reveal that instead of dress pants he is wearing basketball shorts, a tutu or just a pair of Red Sox print boxers.
The most important thing about fashion is making sure that you feel good in whatever you are wearing. Whether that means dressing up for a semblance of normality or fully embracing the stay at home order by never changing out of your pajamas, comfort is available through clothing in one way or another.
