New format for the staff basketball game involves students
The staff versus staff basketball at WHS gives teachers a chance to get away from all of the papers and quizzes and have a little fun with their fellow staff members.
Previous installments of the game have included two staff teams battling it out on the hard top. But this year’s WHS staff basketball game has a bit of a twist, incorporating not only staff members, but the students of WHS as well. The driving force behind this idea was the WHS Student Government, according to Andrew Bratcher Assistant Principal.
Also, instead of only two teams, there will be four teams, two male and female staff teams, and two male and female student teams.
Although players for teams have not been finalized, the coaches have been chosen. The coaches were both able to share a little part of their game plan going into the game.
“We are gonna play physical basketball, 1980’s Bob Knight style. I think they are going to have a really hard time covering our athleticism, our experience, and our endurance” Dave Burnett said, coach of the staff basketball teams.
Taylor Bennington, Coach of the Student basketball teams, has strong confidence .
“The key is age, we are going to be a fast paced offense because of our youth and our ability, which the old people on the staff team just do not have,” Bennington said.
Both coaches plan to exploit one another’s weakness with a hard fought battle on the hardwood.
The student versus staff basketball game will take place February 17 at 7:30 p.m in the WHS main gym.
